Frequently asked questions about our Cambridge Guided Walking tours

How much does a private guided walking tour of Cambridge cost?
Tours

We run three walking tours. The Cambridge Highlights Tour (Essential) is 60 to 90 minutes, from £160 per group. The Cambridge Highlights Tour (Full) is 90 to 120 minutes, from £200. The Cambridge Bespoke Tour (Custom) is built around your group, from £180. All prices are per group, not per person.

Are your Cambridge walking tours available in French?
Pricing

Yes. Every tour runs in French at the same price. Jean-Luc Benazet is a native French speaker with 27 years of experience guiding in Cambridge. Visites guidées en français disponibles toute l’année, sept jours sur sept.

What’s the difference between the Essential and the Full Highlights tour?
Equipment

The Essential covers the city in 60 to 90 minutes: King’s College Chapel exterior, Trinity Great Gate, Senate House, the Backs, the Mathematical Bridge at Queens’, the River Cam. The Full version is 90 to 120 minutes; same route plus the deeper stories that need time to land: the Eagle pub and the DNA announcement of 1953, the Round Church, the Cambridge spies’ route, Newton at Trinity. Same private setup, two paces.

Do I need to book in advance?
Languages

Yes. All tours are private and need confirmation. Book at least 48 hours ahead where possible. We can sometimes accommodate shorter notice; ask. We confirm availability within 24 hours of your enquiry.

Where do Cambridge walking tours start?
About

We typically meet in central Cambridge near King’s Parade or Senate House. The exact meeting point is confirmed when you book. We can also arrange to meet at your hotel, coach drop-off, or Cambridge train station, which is 50 minutes from London King’s Cross by direct train.

Can you guide large groups?
Delivery

Yes. We accommodate groups from two to twenty-five. Above twenty-five we usually split into two parallel groups with a second guide. Language schools, tour operators, and corporate event planners book group tours with us regularly. For trade enquiries, contact us to discuss commission, B2B invoicing, and bespoke itinerary design.

What does the Bespoke tour cover?
Access

Whatever you tell us to. Bespoke is built around your group’s interests, in 60 to 120 minutes. Common themes include the Cambridge spies, the science walk (Newton to Hawking), literary Cambridge (Wordsworth to Plath), wartime Cambridge, the French connections, or a family-friendly route. Tour operators, language schools, corporate visits, and special-interest societies welcome.

Are the walks suitable for visitors with limited mobility?
Access

Cambridge city centre is mostly flat and pedestrianised, which makes most routes manageable. The Essential Highlights route is the most accessible. If anyone in your group has specific access needs (wheelchair use, hearing or vision support, autism-friendly pacing), tell us when you book and we will design a suitable route. We have run successful private walks for groups with a wide range of access needs.
