Why You’ll Love It
Graduation day in Cambridge is unlike anywhere else. The procession through Senate House Passage, the Latin ceremony, the scarlet and white robes against 800 years of limestone — it’s a spectacle that deserves more than a rushed selfie on someone’s phone.
We’ve photographed dozens of Cambridge graduation days and we know exactly where to stand, when to shoot, and how to capture the moments that matter — the ones you’ll frame, the ones you’ll send to grandparents, and the ones that make you laugh every time you see them.
You focus on celebrating. We focus on the camera.
What We Cover
Before the Ceremony The morning of your graduation is full of nervous excitement, last-minute gown adjustments, and proud families trying to work out where they’re supposed to be. We meet you at a central location and spend 20–30 minutes capturing relaxed portraits while the city is still relatively quiet. This is when we get the clean, composed shots — you in your gown against King’s College Chapel, walking down Trinity Lane, or standing beneath the Great Gate.
The Procession As you process through Senate House Passage towards the ceremony, we’re positioned to capture you walking in your academic dress alongside your fellow graduands. These candid, documentary-style shots capture the atmosphere and scale of the day — the flowing robes, the historic buildings, the crowds of families lining the route.
Post-Ceremony Celebration You’ve done it. You emerge from Senate House with your degree and the biggest smile of your life. This is when the energy is electric — hugs, tears, champagne, laughter, someone’s mum crying for the third time. We capture all of it. We’ll also guide you through family group portraits and friend shots in the best-lit spots along King’s Parade and The Backs, so you walk away with formal images alongside the candid ones.
The Quiet Moments Some of the best graduation photographs aren’t the obvious ones. It’s your dad straightening your hood. Your best friend running across the lawn to find you. Your partner watching you from the crowd. We watch for these and we don’t miss them.
Where We Shoot
We photograph in Cambridge’s stunning public spaces and college exteriors. We do not require college entry for stunning graduation images — the best shots happen on King’s Parade, Senate House Passage, and along The Backs.
Cambridge’s university colleges are private institutions, and professional photography inside college grounds requires formal permission that is rarely granted for commercial work. The good news? The most iconic and photogenic views of the colleges are all from public vantage points — and after years of shooting in this city, we know every single one of them.
Your images will feature the grandeur of King’s College Chapel, the elegance of the Senate House façade, the charm of Trinity Lane, and the sweeping riverside views of The Backs — all without setting foot inside a college gate.

Graduation dates are published by the University well in advance, and our calendar fills up fast. Cambridge general admission degree ceremonies typically run from late June through July, with some colleges holding additional ceremonies in autumn.

Please note: Cambridge’s university colleges are private institutions. Professional photography inside college grounds requires formal permission, which is rarely granted for commercial tours. Our photo tours focus on Cambridge’s stunning public spaces, exteriors, courtyards, and riverside views — where the best light and most iconic compositions are found.
